Panther Ridge is a great jumping off place. . .
|Hiking. . . hiking is a favorite activity at Panther Ridge. For a short jaunt take
the old road from the campground to the bench of Little Panthertail Mountain for a view of
beautiful Lake Toxaway in the valley below. Or visit the Forest Rangers' Stations
for maps and descriptions of nearby trails including
Panthertown Valley. Two national forests, Pisgah and
Nantahala, have boundaries within our county, as does our new state forest, Gorges State
|Wildlife viewing ... Deer, bears and other wildlife
are regular visitors to our mountain. DO NOT APPROACH THEM UNDER
ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, NOR ALLOW A PET TO DO SO.|

|Resort Areas. . . Nearby are several well known resort areas: Lake Toxaway Estates,
Burlingame, and Fairfield-Sapphire Valley are three thriving resort communities that
evolved from earlier ventures begun around the turn of the twentieth century.
Panther Ridge is only minutes from these and other exclusive developments

"IMPORTANT. Panther Ridge is a mountain top
campground. The access road is half a mile, gravel, and moderately steep.
Drive in vehicles including all types of motor homes have no trouble with the
grade. IF YOU ARE PULLING A CAMPER, EVEN A POPUP, you need four wheel
drive or a powerful rig to go up the hill. If in doubt, visit the
campground ahead of time. If you are pulling ANYTHING, do not proceed up
the hill until cleared to do so."
Available in the bath house.
